Geek Vibes at Web Summit 2024 in Lisbon

For the first time, Geek Vibes attended the Web Summit in Lisbon in 2024, and we can say it was a truly enriching experience. We had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the latest trends in entrepreneurship and emerging ideas on a global scale.

From the very first moment, the term "AI" was the defining feature of the event. We were introduced to artificial intelligence tools that are revolutionizing our field of development and tech programming. Speakers and booths covered a range of topics, including how to integrate these innovations into new workflows, from UX/UI design to programming, coding, and especially the ongoing changes with machine learning.

In addition to this, we engaged in deep discussions about the limits, legal implications, and ethical issues surrounding artificial intelligence.

Sustainability was also a key topic, as it is well-known that the current quantity, storage, and management of data require vast amounts of servers, resulting in significant energy usage and, therefore, resource consumption. This prompted us to reflect on how, while AI can complement human work, it's important to address these challenges responsibly.

The Web Summit experience was not only enjoyable but also very impressive. It allowed us to connect with peers in our field while expanding our expertise and network.

We definitely plan to make this an annual tradition for the Geeks.
